The nowadays

For nine years I have been living in an apartment in the „Haus des Handwerks“ together with my common-law-wife Baerbel in the district Geestemuende. The beautiful view on the Weser, wood port and citizen park compensates a little for the traffic noise at this traffic junction important for Bremerhaven.
It was very difficult for me to feel like home again back in Bremerhaven , although it was actually my homeland. During mine over twenty-year-old absence there were serious changes - the German deep-sea fishery had been stopped nearly perfectly. “Shipyard-death” and the departure of the Americans left their traces. Necessary structural reforms were tackled by the policy not timely enough and for decades the determining Social Democrats were felted particularly, as always. Thousands of unemployed people and likewise many people on social security shaped the picture of this once so alive city.
Nevertheless I decided to participate 1994 again in the party life in SPD the local association Geestemuende north. At the same time I took up then also contact to the Bremerhavener public workers' union, the trade union in which I since 1967 was
honorary active already. There I found a well working senior interior work. The colleagues and colleague accepted me in a well-meaning manner in their circles and I could trade union-politically bring in themselves and cooperate. At the end of 2001 I was selected to the first chairman senior interior working group; the colleague Margarethe Luehr withdrew for health reasons. The establishment of the united service trade union "ver.di" was carried out at this time already.
In the local executive committee I am a deputy for the colleague Emil Ewelt for the person's group that senior inside. As a member in the senior-caucus and education committee district country Bremen as well as in the senior interior committee national district Lower Saxony Bremen further tasks were then added. For senior inside I was nominated into the specialist area executive committees 11 (traffic) on
district and national district level and represent there the interests of this person's group. In the national district executive committee Lower Saxony Bremen I am vice member. I consider there is however still another number of further operating fields, which worth mentioning. At the education community "Work and life Bremerhaven e.V." I belong to the team-working-group. In co-operation with ver.di annually week seminars with consideration of senior-relevant topics take place.
I dress special honorary offices as a juror with the district court Bremerhaven and honorary judge with the Administrative Court Bremen. To Lufthansa further contacts exist regional association Bremen" over my membership in the "Community former Lufthanseaten e.V.,;.
Much time and honorary work I dedicate also to the BEW (care and recovery work e.V., Bremerhaven). In this large nonprofit organization I as a travel companion and responsible persons are used for child recovery.
That is how my retirement looks like: a full-time job,
which is however a lot of fun for me. I estimate the work with humans and am pleased over each new day. Of cause I also have my "faults", like everybody else does.
Eventually my friends tell me that I am a nice person...so that’s good.
My special thanks goes to Baerbel, who supports me idealistically and to me for my various activities in each regard the back keeps free. A big kiss for it!
